Collection: Silk Matelassé

Silk Matelassé is an embossed, compound fabric woven on a dobby or jacquard loom.  It has a bit of a trapunto or quilted appearance, with the origins of the matelassé fabric dating back to 18th century Marseilles.  

Our matelassé is 100% silk, is in a rose pattern and is dress-weight.  

Our silk matelassé is dye-set and throughly washed.  We recommend hand-washing the matelassé in cool water with a non-alkaline soap, such as Ivory or Woolite.  As with any natural fiber, sunlight will encourage fading.  

Colors are subject to slight variations due to the nature of the hand-dye process.
